FAQ

  • How are orders shipped?

All our sockeye salmon shipped frozen to ensure peak quality and freshness. We pack every order in a durable insulated cardboard box along with ice packs to keep your salmon cold and safe during transit. Orders are shipped via expedited delivery services to minimize travel time and ensure your fish arrives in excellent condition.

If your box arrives slightly thawed around the edges but still cold to the touch, it’s completely normal — just place the salmon back in the freezer.

  • Why is shipping so expensive?

Shipping frozen seafood is costly because it requires high-end eco friendly insulated boxes, multiple ice packs, and fast 2-day express shipping (sometimes 3-day depending on the region). These materials and services ensure your salmon stays frozen and arrives in perfect condition.

We don’t make money on shipping —our rates simply cover the packaging and express carrier costs needed for safe delivery.

To help offset these higher shipping costs, we offer $30 off every $300 spent on your order. It’s our way of giving you better value while still delivering the highest-quality sockeye salmon, frozen and fresh from Bristol Bay.

  • Why not buy "normal" salmon...it's cheaper.

Most cheaper “regular” salmon is farm-raised, which means crowded pens, artificial feed, added color, and a very different texture and flavor.

Our sockeye is wild-caught in Bristol Bay, one of the cleanest, most sustainable fisheries in the world. Wild salmon has:

Better nutrition — naturally higher in omega-3s, no antibiotics, no additives, no dyes.

Better flavor — firmer texture, deep red color, and richer taste.

Better standards — sustainably harvested, traceable, and handled with care.

You’re not just paying for salmon—you’re paying for wild, clean, healthy, sustainably harvested fish that’s miles apart in quality from typical store-bought salmon.

  • How does pricing work?

We price all of our salmon by the pound. When you order a certain weight—for example, 10 pounds—you will always receive at least that amount, and usually a bit more. Every fish is different in size, so the final weight often ends up slightly over what you paid for.

For our mixed boxes, we list the number of pieces you can expect. While piece sizes vary, we always make sure your box meets or exceeds the advertised total weight.

In short: you’ll never get less than what you paid for—and most orders arrive with a little extra.

  • Can I pick up locally?

    Yes!

If you are in Maine, living or visiting, and want to skip on shipping, shoot us an email info@finixsockey.com and we’ll try to figure something out!

  • When will I get my order?

Pre-orders will be ready in mid-to-late August (after the season ends)

In-stock orders are filled on a rolling basis while supplies last.

We ship orders at the beginning of the week to ensure no packages are left undelivered over the weekend. Orders must be made by Monday, for same week shipping. If not, it will be shipped the following week.

We’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

  • How do I pay?

Once your order is confirmed and weighed, we’ll send you a secure payment link. We accept:

    PayPal

    Square

    Venmo

    Cash (for pickups)

  • Will my salmon arrive frozen?

Yes — vacuum-packed, frozen within hours of harvest, and shipped with enough gel packs and insulation to stay frozen for up to 72 hours.
